Our Mission

To link access to vital services for people with disabilities and those aging in place through a user-friendly referral platform.

Why It Matters

  • 61 million adults in the U.S. live with a disability.

  • 90% of older adults want to age in place.

  • Services are scattered and hard to find.

We make it simple.

Hands

Connecting People and Building Independence

Bridging Access Support Services aims to launch a user-friendly referral website designed to improve access to community resources for individuals with disabilities and older adults. This service is critical, as approximately 61 million people—or nearly 26% of the U.S. population—live with a disability. Globally, more than 1 billion individuals are affected by disability, according to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Despite these numbers, many still face barriers to accessing essential services and supports. Our platform seeks to bridge this gap by connecting individuals, caregivers, and professionals to the resources they need—efficiently and equitably.

Task 9

Navigating Essential Services

Caregivers are challenged by the difficulty of accessing services to facilitate this population's needs. For example:

Healthcare resources are scattered and not direct. Many people of this population are uncertain about their healthcare benefits, provider network, etc.
Available transportation is not readily accessible. The MTA provides Access-A-Ride; however, it is difficult to find other means of transportation for people with disabilities.
Online access to these resources in one location will help the population and their caregivers to locate healthcare, community programs, supplies, transportation, etc.

Connecting Support Services

Bridging Access Support Services Inc. will be a referral source to link these supportive services through a user-friendly application and website:

  • Healthcare: insurance, provider network, benefits, case management
  • Adaptive apparel
  • Adaptive equipment
  • Educational and recreational programs
  • Homecare, Respite
  • Medical Supplies
  • Transportation
  • And many other resources to assist in the quality of life for this population
